BHRA has 12 ex-Shaker Heights/ex-Twin Cities Rapid Transit cars. The TCRT numbers
for these cars are: 340-344 (SHRT 51-55), 349-351(SHRT 60-62) and 356-359 (SHRT 67-70).
These cars were manufactured by St. Louis Car Co. PCCs from 1947. They entered service
in 1947 and ran up until Twin Cities abandoned their streetcar network in the early
1950s. Since TCRT’s PCC cars were only half a decade old, few of these cars were
scrapped, most were sold to other rapid transit systems (including Newark, Cleveland
and Mexico City). In 1953 these cars were sold to Shaker Heights Rapid Transit and
ran on that line until they were retired and replaced by LRVs in the 1980s.
